Market vocabulary in three languages

| English | Spanish | Chinese |
| --- | --- | --- |
| scale | la balanza | 秤 |
| basket | la cesta | 篮子 |
| banana | el plátano | 香蕉 |
| cherry | la cereza | 樱桃 |
| orange | la naranja | 橙子 |
| lemon | el limón | 柠檬 |

## Practice a small shopping conversation

Say “I would like a banana” in English, then “Quisiera un plátano” in Spanish. Replace the fruit with una naranja or un limón. Keep the Spanish article with the noun when you learn it.

Plátano is one common Spanish word for banana; regional names vary. A scale weighs produce, while a basket holds it. Try naming both the food and the objects used to sell it.
